Hi, I'm Bobby. I'm a counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I have ADHD myself. Working with clients, and living with the way my own attention works, taught me how much the format of text affects whether it actually gets read and understood.
That is why I built Type Shifter. Most reading tools are designed for neurotypical readers and treat accessibility as an afterthought. I wanted something that put OpenDyslexic, adjustable spacing, dark mode, Bionic Reading and natural-sounding text-to-speech in one place, ran privately on your own device, and didn't lock the helpful features behind a subscription.
I write the articles on this blog about dyslexia, ADHD, eye strain and the science of reading. Where the research is solid, I'll say so; where it's mixed (Bionic Reading is a good example), I'll tell you that too. Honest, hedged claims are more useful than hype, especially for something as personal as how you read.
If you have a question, a correction, or feedback on a feature, I genuinely want to hear it: [email protected].
